Lectures

Week 6:

Mr. Vinod said that, It is important to take some notes from our classes, if I do not understand with my e-blog, just go and look at your senior's blog to check what I need to do. Also, if you do not understand anything in class, just ask the questions to understand it. He will be always stand behind us.

Introduction

Exercise

- Task 2: Text Formatting & Expression -

1. Layout Research

- I looked up several layout examples, and all of them were really imaginative and attractive layouts. It was used for layout by putting small letters in large letters, or using various large and small models.

2. Sketches

- I tried many layout sketches. It was a very good experience to know where to put the headline and how to lay out the rest of the letters, and this activity was quite enjoyable. I put in 4 sketches, of which 2nd and 4th were my favorite. Perhaps if I create a good combination of these two, a good layout can come out.

3. Digital Progression

Before I try my digital progression, I want to create my own bar code, thus I use Adobe Photoshop to create my bar code.

- Font: Serifa Std / Bembo Std
- Font size: 8-12
- Line Length:
- Text Leading:
- Ragging (left alignment) / Rivers (Left Justification) Cross Alignment No Widows / Orphans

- My work layout should be like this as I sketch it first. Also the empty space I will put my bar code ideas.

Final Outcome

Week 6: Feedback

N/A

I really wanted to get feedback on my layout. But I had to spend a lot of time returning to Malaysia from Korea, so I missed two classes. I try to work harder as it's very late. I would like to get personal feedback from the teacher about my being late.

Week 7: Feedback

Mr. Vinod told me it was very important to know how to use InDesign. You said this was the most important factor when implementing this project, and I thought I should practice Adobe InDesign more.

Reflection

Experience - This task 2 was better than task 1. Because task 1 was a very difficult task for me. Thus task 2 was much more fun and enjoyable than I thought. This was a very challenging task, I learned more about typography and how to use adobe InDesign.

Observations - To create a good layout, I need to understand many elements. When you understand these things, such as the headline and the body of the text, you can complete your layout more smoothly.

Findings - Typography was a task that required a lot of detail. I understand typography better than before, but there are still many shortcomings. Typography is one of the basics of design, and I thought that I should study harder.
