UI VS UX
UI Design
- Focus on the way the functionality is displayed and the fine detail of how users interact with the interface
- Produce the visual comps and functioning front-end code
- Polishing final production
UX Design
- Focus on the structure and layout of content, navigation, and how users interact with them
- Produce site maps, user flows, prototypes, and wireframes (focus on the underlying structure and purpose of the software)
Common Characteristics
- Listen to your users and observe them interacting with your design
- To make a connection with the user, the design’s interface must achieve its mission-communicating information through the printed word, dispensing a product.
- Focus on being designed in a way that helps the user succeed

Task 1: App Design Proposal
Starbucks MY Application
- In this Application Design I project, we need to redesign an existing app that is judged unsatisfactory in terms of user experience or interface design. At first, I was very worried about which application to choose. First of all, I wanted to select an application that people use frequently, the reason is that the criteria are clear, and the more examples there are, the more information about the app that I can upgrade.
- So, the app I ended up choosing was the 'Starbucks Malaysia' application. The main reason I chose this app is because it's in high demand, but it has a rating of 1.2 out of 5 based on the Apple Store. I thought that there must be a reason for the low ratings of all applications. So I chose the 'Starbucks Malaysia' app.

Exercise 1:
Download one of the apps in the list and replicate the UI design. Select a minimum of 5 screens (not including onboarding) for the task. You're allowed to use any software (Adobe XD, Photoshop, Illustrator, or Figma) for the task. You may use any images from any resources as long as it is appropriate to the design. You need to study and observe carefully the original design and implement it in your crafting. Focus on the details, examine each pixel use in the original UI design and apply it to your own work.
Here is the list:

Sectograph
Trip
AirBNB
